I spent my Mustang sale profit on boring stuff

Took a good portion of the profit from the sale of my 1998 Mustang GT and rather than buying another project or a convertible I bought furniture. Adulting isn’t nearly as fun as fixing project cars....

Bought a set of matching mid-50s solid cherry dining/ coffee tables and chairs . Didn’t make enough profit to quite afford the Eames Lounge Chair I wanted lol. The remaining profit will probably go towards a HOTAS setup so I can fly around on the new Microsoft Flight Sim.

I’m not a fan of MCM (prices that are artificially ) but I can appreciate you made some acceptable choices there.  The bench is quite nice.

Fun fact- original 1940s and 50s Heywood Wakefield pieces are actually cheaper than current reproductions, for reasons, I guess.

Striking and from my perspective, more than worth it.

8, four of them fold out at an angle when you put leaves in and extend the ends. Kind of weird looking at this angle.

That was the situation here. It was cheaper  to buy original pieces than to pay for similar quality on new revival style material.

Love the wood on the table! I just bought some used Ikea. Not beautiful, and with a small chip in the veneer (at least it is a real wood veneer and not just printed plastic). Cheap though. Had seen something I liked much more on Craigslist but the seller did n’t understand that to sell stuff it has to actually be available, you can’t just say “ oh, by the way we don’t actually want to sell it now, it might be available for pickup in mid-August, but maybe not”.

Probably better quality, too. I mean, there’s a lot of good quality stuff being made today, too, but not for the same price.

The same cannot be said for Eames chairs.

Nice dining room set. It's hard to go wrong with solid wood.

Refinishing wood furniture can be just as satisfying as fixing the car.  Although y our furniture does not look like it needs refinishing.
